AST is a full service tower company offering a complete line of repair services for guyed towers, self-supporting towers, and monopoles. AST can perform the simplest scope of work such as a relamp to the toughest tower modification.
Keeping your tower in compliance with current FCC and FAA standards and regulations for day marking is very important. All galvanized towers receive one top coat of industrial acrylic enamel #12197 orange and #17845 white paint mixed to comply with current Federal Specifications 595-A. AST offers Polyurethane, Epoxy Mastic, and Keeler & Long 4404 or custom paint applications. AST can handle your largest lead abatement projects.
Plumb and Tension
The vertical alignment is set and guy wires tensioned to manufacturers specifications utilizing state-of-the-art equipment. This service is a standard tower maintenance procedure to ensure proper operation and compliance with EIA TIA 222 specifications.
AST offers complete re-guying of all types of towers. Towers with corroded or pitted guy wires can usually be repaired for a fraction of the cost of a complete tower replacement. All materials used are in compliance with applicable EIA TIA 222, AISC, and ANSI standards for quality and are American Made products when possible. Replacing insulating rods, egg/Johnny ball insulators or insulated guys is not a problem with AST trained crews.
Guy Coating and Injection
This service is provide to prolong the life of galvanized EHS or Bridge Strand guy wires by coating or pressure injecting the wires with a rust inhibitive coating. AST offers Prelube 19, Dyna-guard Blue, zinc-rich paints or No-Oxid Special A grease. Special coatings are available such as “Ice Phobic” coatings, which can prevent icing on guy wires.
AST repairs/modifies tower and anchor foundations based on structural analysis or good practice. AST safely repairs eroded base piers and performs anchor bolt installation/replacement.
AST replaces damaged, corroded and/or undersized guy anchors or “dead-man” anchors, caisson type anchors, elevated anchors and rock anchor systems in accordance with EIA/TIA 222 standards. AST offers helical type anchors in lieu of standard anchoring systems in some cases.
Tower & Site Grounding
AST furnishes and installs any type of grounding system based on EIA/TIA 222 codes, Motorola R56 or custom specific requirements.
Cathodic Protection Systems
AST offers a complete line of cathodic protection systems to offer protection from undetected corrosion of guy anchors below grade.

AST furnishes and installs AM ground systems for a single tower or the largest directional arrays.
Light System Repair
AST offers installation and maintenance of standard red incandescent tower lighting systems, medium intensity strobe systems, high intensity systems, LEDs and the popular medium intensity dual system. Antenna Installation & Repair
AST offers complete antenna and line installation services. AST’s capabilities include installation of panel antennas, omni directional antennas, standard dishes, high-performance dishes, FM Antennas, Yagis, HDTV antennas, and AM folded unipoles/detuning skirts. AST qualified technicians can install any type of heliax, rigid coax, cable downleads, RG cable, elliptical waveguide line that these antennas require. Line sweeping service is also available.
AST’s Tower Design staff utilizes EIA/TIA, IBC, AWS and AISC Standards in conjunction with Weisman and RISA programs for tower design and finite element analysis to ensure structural integrity. AST’s drafting department is state of the art utilizing AutoCad 2012 and where applicable 3D modeling software.
Towers are visually inspected for compliance with applicable EIA/TIA, OSHA, and FAA/FCC requirements. The Owner is furnished a written or electronic report with color photographs of unsatisfactory conditions. Minor repairs completed at the time of the inspection will result in savings to the Owner.
AST inspection crews carry state of the art equipment, including laser range finders used to determine precise AGL measurements and center of radiation levels, transits, Penn-Tech tension-meters, digital dynometers, UT equipment, Radman RF detectors, MEG test gear, laptop computers, and digital cameras.
Tubular towers are inspected for interior corrosion using ultrasonic thickness test equipment. This service is used to provide data for the analysis of the tower’s interior conditions. Ultrasonic inspection reveals deficiencies that would not be found by a visual inspection. AST will furnish the Owner a written or electronic report of the results.
Safety Climb Device
AST furnishes and installs OSHA approved safety climb devices on any type of tower to provide a safe work environment for climbers and to protect your investment from costly lawsuits. AST installs cable or rail systems and Insulated Synthetic safety climbs for AM towers.
AST furnishes and installs lightning rods, air terminals, lightning rod extensions, down conductors, and lightning dissipater systems such as spline balls, brushes and halos. AST installs specialty systems designed specifically for your tower.
AST performs any type of modification you may require such as split pipe installation, angle steel, base stiffeners, bridge plates, grout injection and custom welding. AST also performs modifications to tower anchors and base foundations. AST will provide modification material manufactured by us to meet customer specifications upon request.
AST can return any site to its original condition by removing and disposing of equipment shelters, Telco, rock, fencing and foundations when required.
